CIBSE Energy Performance Group

To improve energy performance of buildings by increasing awareness amongst all building professionals and supporting the implementation of relevant legislation aimed at reducing carbon emissions in buildings
Welcome
As realisation dawns that climate change is real and serious, the importance of reducing carbon emissions from buildings has become clear. Building professionals everywhere have been presented with a challenge of major proportions. In rising to this challenge, CIBSE has created the Energy Performance Group (EPG) a special interest group with a mission to:
Improve the energy performance of buildings by increasing awareness amongst all building professionals and supporting the implementation of relevant legislation aimed at reducing carbon emissions in buildings.
The group is at work providing information and looking for feedback on energy efficient building design and operation and the carbon savings achieved. As we take on the implications of this mission, our activities include:
- A web site to inform and provide support
- Regular newsletter updates on energy performance issues
- An expert Q&A forum covering a new energy topic every quarter
- Carbon Bites – short leaflets giving a rapid overview of key topics
- Conferences, workshops and debates to discuss the topic of the day
- Updates and discussion on new government consultations and legislation
As a leading source of guidance and standards for services in buildings, CIBSE has prime responsibility for meeting the sustainability challenge head on. The job of the Energy Performance Group is to ensure that we do it effectively.
